(09.05.1866 – 19.02.1915), a very prominent Indian political leader of Poona, the chief advocate of moderation, opposing vigorously all talk of boycotts and violence. Associated with the Congress from its inception, he was its Joint Secretary for several years, and presided over its 1905 session at Benares. He founded the Servants of India Society in 1906.
