(1897 — 1990) Sadhika. Early member of the Ashram.
Her maternal uncle was Chitta Ranjan Das. He was the barrister who defended Sri Aurobindo in 1908-09 in Alipore Bomb case.
She was a student at Rabindranath Tagore’s Santiniketan. Tagore was deeply enamoured of her singing. She composed many songs. Dilip Kumar Roy was responsible for bringing Sahana to the Sri Aurobindo Ashram. Dilip and Sahana both arrived at the Ashram on November 22nd, 1928. Sri Aurobindo gave them permission to sing for him once a week. Then, gradually, it became once a month. She used to receive letters from Sri Aurobindo almost every day from 1930 to 1938. Many of them were published in the book At the Feet of the Mother and Sri Aurobindo.
