( — 11.1945). Chandulal, had become an inmate of the Ashram with his sister Vasudha in the beginning of 1928. He was in charge of the Building Service of the Ashram. He ate only the Ashram food, dressed always in shorts and Ashram sandals and had no other hobbies than the Building Service.

The death of Chandulal Shah in November 1945 eradicated the myth of becoming immortal for once and for all. He had gone to the Town Hospital to for a hernia operation and died immediately after the operation.
