Member of Jugantar. The real editors or writers of Jugantar (for there was no declared editor) were Barin, Upen Banerji (also a subeditor of the Bande Mataram) and Debabrata Bose. He was a master of Bengali prose. Upen, Debebrata and Barin by their writings gained an unequalled popularity for the paper.

On 08.06.1908 his house was searched. He was committed for bomb trial as a member of the conspiracy but acquitted.

Later he was known as Swami Pragyananda, subsequently joined the Ramakrishna Mission, he was prominent among the Sannyasis at Almora and as a writer in the Mission’s journals.
