[Sanskrit]
Ángiras
the rishi who represents the seer-will, in later times regarded as one of the original sages, progenitor of a clan of rishis that went by his name, however it is clear that the word is used in the Veda not merely as a name of a certain family of rishis, but with a distinct meaning inherent in the word: it must have meant flaming, glowing; used as an epithet, a name of Agní, etc.
