Vasuśruta Ātreya

Sukta 6

5.6.1

अ॒ग्निं तं म॑न्ये॒ यो वसु॒रस्तं॒ यं यंति॑ धे॒नवः॑ ।

अस्त॒मर्वं॑त आ॒शवोऽस्तं॒ नित्या॑सो वा॒जिन॒ इषं॑ स्तो॒तृभ्य॒ आ भ॑र ॥

agním tám manye yáḥ vásuḥ ástam yám yánti dhenávaḥ ǀ

ástam árvantaḥ āśávaḥ ástam nítyāsaḥ vājínaḥ íṣam stotṛ́-bhyaḥ ā́ bhara ǁ

I meditate on the Fire who is the dweller in things1, to whom the milch-cows go as to their home, to their home the swift war-horses, to their home the eternal steeds of swiftness2. Bring to those who laud thee the force of thy impulse.

5.6.2

सो अ॒ग्निर्यो वसु॑र्गृ॒णे सं यमा॒यंति॑ धे॒नवः॑ ।

समर्वं॑तो रघु॒द्रुवः॒ सं सु॑जा॒तासः॑ सू॒रय॒ इषं॑ स्तो॒तृभ्य॒ आ भ॑र ॥

sáḥ agníḥ yáḥ vásuḥ gṛṇé sám yám ā-yánti dhenávaḥ ǀ

sám árvantaḥ raghu-drúvaḥ sám su-jātā́saḥ sūráyaḥ íṣam stotṛ́-bhyaḥ ā́ bhara ǁ

This is the Fire who is the dweller in things voiced by me, in whom meet the milch-cows, and in him the swift galloping war-horses and in him the illuminates who have come to the perfect birth. Bring to those who laud thee the force of thy impulse.

5.6.3

अ॒ग्निर्हि वा॒जिनं॑ वि॒शे ददा॑ति वि॒श्वच॑र्षणिः ।

अ॒ग्नी रा॒ये स्वा॒भुवं॒ स प्री॒तो या॑ति॒ वार्य॒मिषं॑ स्तो॒तृभ्य॒ आ भ॑र ॥

agníḥ hí vājínam viśé dádāti viśvá-carṣaṇiḥ ǀ

agníḥ rāyé su-ābhúvam sáḥ prītáḥ yāti vā́ryam íṣam stotṛ́-bhyaḥ ā́ bhara ǁ

The all-seeing Fire gives the steed of the plenitude to man, Fire the horse that comes swiftly to him for the riches; when he is pleased he journeys to the desirable good. Bring to those who laud thee the force of thy impulse.

5.6.4

आ ते॑ अग्न इधीमहि द्यु॒मंतं॑ देवा॒जरं॑ ।

यद्ध॒ स्या ते॒ पनी॑यसी स॒मिद्दी॒दय॑ति॒ द्यवीषं॑ स्तो॒तृभ्य॒ आ भ॑र ॥

ā́ te agne idhīmahi dyu-mántam deva ajáram ǀ

yát ha syā́ te pánīyasī sam-ít dīdáyati dyávi íṣam stotṛ́-bhyaḥ ā́ bhara ǁ

O Fire, we kindle thy luminous and ageless flame; when the fuel of thee becomes more effective in its labour, it blazes up in heaven. Bring to those who laud thee the force of thy impulse.

5.6.5

आ ते॑ अग्न ऋ॒चा ह॒विः शुक्र॑स्य शोचिषस्पते ।

सुश्चं॑द्र॒ दस्म॒ विश्प॑ते॒ हव्य॑वा॒ट् तुभ्यं॑ हूयत॒ इषं॑ स्तो॒तृभ्य॒ आ भ॑र ॥

ā́ te agne ṛcā́ havíḥ śúkrasya śociṣaḥ pate ǀ

sú-candra dásma víśpate hávya-vāṭ túbhyam hūyate íṣam stotṛ́-bhyaḥ ā́ bhara ǁ

O Fire, O Master of the brilliant Light, the offering is cast to thee with the word of illumination, O bearer of the offering, O master of the creature, achiever of works, O delightful Flame. Bring to those who laud thee the force of thy impulse.

5.6.6

प्रो त्ये अ॒ग्नयो॒ऽग्निषु॒ विश्वं॑ पुष्यंति॒ वार्यं॑ ।

ते हि॑न्विरे॒ त इ॑न्विरे॒ त इ॑षण्यंत्यानु॒षगिषं॑ स्तो॒तृभ्य॒ आ भ॑र ॥

pró␣íti tyé agnáyaḥ agníṣu víśvam puṣyanti vā́ryam ǀ

té hinvire té invire té iṣaṇyanti ānuṣák íṣam stotṛ́-bhyaḥ ā́ bhara ǁ

In thy fires those greater fires of thee nurse every desirable good; they, they race, they run, they drive on in their impulse without a break. Bring to those who laud thee the force of thy impulse.

5.6.7

तव॒ त्ये अ॑ग्ने अ॒र्चयो॒ महि॑ व्राधंत वा॒जिनः॑ ।

ये पत्व॑भिः श॒फानां॑ व्र॒जा भु॒रंत॒ गोना॒मिषं॑ स्तो॒तृभ्य॒ आ भ॑र ॥

táva tyé agne arcáyaḥ máhi vrādhanta vājínaḥ ǀ

yé pátva-bhiḥ śaphā́nām vrajā́ bhuránta gónām íṣam stotṛ́-bhyaḥ ā́ bhara ǁ

O Fire, those rays of thine, thy steeds of plenitude greaten the Vast; they gallop with tramplings of their hooves to the pens of the ray-cows. Bring to those who laud thee the force of thy impulse.

5.6.8

नवा॑ नो अग्न॒ आ भ॑र स्तो॒तृभ्यः॑ सुक्षि॒तीरिषः॑ ।

ते स्या॑म॒ य आ॑नृ॒चुस्त्वादू॑तासो॒ दमे॑दम॒ इषं॑ स्तो॒तृभ्य॒ आ भ॑र ॥

návāḥ naḥ agne ā́ bhara stotṛ́-bhyaḥ su-kṣitī́ḥ íṣaḥ ǀ

té syāma yé ānṛcúḥ tvā́-dūtāsaḥ dáme-dame íṣam stotṛ́-bhyaḥ ā́ bhara ǁ

Bring to us who laud thee, O Fire, new impelling forces that lead to happy worlds; may we be of those who with thee for their messenger sing the hymn of illumination in home and home. Bring to those who laud thee the force of thy impulse.

5.6.9

उ॒भे सु॑श्चंद्र स॒र्पिषो॒ दर्वी॑ श्रीणीष आ॒सनि॑ ।

उ॒तो न॒ उत्पु॑पूर्या उ॒क्थेषु॑ शवसस्पत॒ इषं॑ स्तो॒तृभ्य॒ आ भ॑र ॥

ubhé␣íti su-candra sarpíṣaḥ dárvī␣íti śrīṇīṣe āsáni ǀ

utó␣íti naḥ út pupūryāḥ ukthéṣu śavasaḥ pate íṣam stotṛ́-bhyaḥ ā́ bhara ǁ

O delightful Flame, thou turnest both the ladles of the streaming clarity towards thy mouth; then mayst thou carry us high beyond in the utterances, O Master of might. Bring to those who laud thee the force of thy impulse.

5.6.10

ए॒वाँ अ॒ग्निम॑जुर्यमुर्गी॒र्भिर्य॒ज्ञेभि॑रानु॒षक् ।

दध॑द॒स्मे सु॒वीर्य॑मु॒त त्यदा॒श्वश्व्य॒मिषं॑ स्तो॒तृभ्य॒ आ भ॑र ॥

evá agním ajuryamuḥ gīḥ-bhíḥ yajñébhiḥ ānuṣák ǀ

dádhat asmé␣íti su-vī́ryam utá tyát āśu-áśvyam íṣam stotṛ́-bhyaḥ ā́ bhara ǁ

Thus have they driven and controlled the Fire without a break by their words and their sacrifices; may he found in us the perfect hero-might and the perfect power of the Horse. Bring to those who laud thee the force of thy impulse.
