1. Two copies of the above three papers absolutely necessary.

Statesman and Daily News one copy for the present, whenever necessary another may be bought.

2. Bengalee and Amritabazar to be specially compared with our paper so as (1) to make sure that we are not fallen unnecessarily behindhand, (2) to see that full use is made of items we cannot secure.

3. Mofussil papers – to see that they are made fuller use of. See whether they all come.

 

This work was not included in SABCL, vol.1 and it was not compared with other editions.

1 A note on the use of Calcutta newspapers. The Englishman, Bengalee, Amrita Bazar Patrika, Empire, Statesman and Daily News were newspapers of Calcutta. Lacking its own reporters and the where withal to subscribe to the wire services, the Bande Mataram lifted most of its news from its rivals.
