To X’s comment about “near descents”, you replied: “No, thank you, sir! I have had enough of them — the only result of the last descent was an upsurging of subconscient {{0}}mud.”[[See the letter of 27 May 1935 on pages 342 – 43. — Ed.]] Are our present difficulties, attacks, etc. the result of the descent?

Not of the descent, but of the resistance to it.

What descent did you mean? The descent of what?

The general descent of the Supermind into Matter was the subject on which I was writing.
