neṣṭṛ, Neshtri

Functions of Neshtri are not specified in the Veda. Sri Aurobindo twice used “lustration”, but this meaning is equal to function of Potri, potṛ. Perhaps the word is connected with nī, to lead, direct, with neṣ, to go, to move, and neṣa, directin, guidance. So, perhaps, Neshtri is the god as priest of offering who directs movement and development of the hymn and gives to hymn its final form in presence and with help of Goddesses-Energies gnāvaḥ.
