of Rig Veda

meṣa, ram, sheep

The word is used in the usual Vedic way, i.e. as an image for an external picture and at the same time as a symbol for some hidden reality. Three times the Veda names Indra by the word Ram, obviously indicating his power and ability to break through barriers and to lead a human’s mind to overmental and supramental Knowledge. Do prise that Ram, the finder of Svar (1.52.1); Indra, being the Ram, led Medhatithi Kanva (8.2.40).
