1.7.1
इन्द्र॒मिद्गा॒थिनो॑ बृ॒हदिन्द्र॑म॒र्केभि॑र॒र्किणः॑ ।
इन्द्रं॒ वाणी॑रनूषत ॥
indram it gāthinaḥ bṛhat indram arkebhiḥ arkiṇaḥ
indram vāṇīḥ anūṣata
Indra the Udgathins, Indra the masters of Rik with their thoughts of substance, Indra the voices desired.
1.7.2
इन्द्र॒ इद्धर्यो॒: सचा॒ सम्मि॑श्ल॒ आ व॑चो॒युजा॑ ।
इन्द्रो॑ व॒ज्री हि॑र॒ण्ययः॑ ॥
indraḥ it haryoḥ sacā sam-miślaḥ ā vacaḥ-yujā
indraḥ vajrī hiraṇyayaḥ
Indra is made one with our being by the love of the two Bright Ones yoked to speech, Indra of the brilliance, the wielder of the thunderbolt.
1.7.3
इन्द्रो॑ दी॒र्घाय॒ चक्ष॑स॒ आ सूर्यं॑ रोहयद्दि॒वि ।
वि गोभि॒रद्रि॑मैरयत् ॥
indraḥ dīrghāya cakṣase ā sūryam rohayat divi
vi gobhiḥ adrim airayat
Indra for far vision ascends in Heaven up to the sun, he manifests the mountain to all sides with those lustres.
1.7.4
इन्द्र॒ वाजे॑षु नोऽव स॒हस्र॑प्रधनेषु च ।
उ॒ग्र उ॒ग्राभि॑रू॒तिभि॑: ॥
indraḥ vājeṣu naḥ ava sahasra-pradhaneṣu ca
ugraḥ ugrābhiḥ ūti-bhiḥ
Indra protect us in our store of strength and in our strong possessions, fierce with fierce raptures.1
1.7.5
इन्द्रं॑ व॒यं म॑हाध॒न इन्द्र॒मर्भे॑ हवामहे ।
युजं॑ वृ॒त्रेषु॑ व॒ज्रिण॑म् ॥
indram vayaṃ mahā-dhane indram arbhe havāmahe
yujam vṛtreṣu vajriṇam
Indra we call in great wealth, Indra in little, the thunderer assailing the Vritras.
1.7.6
स नो॑ वृषन्न॒मुं च॒रुं सत्रा॑दाव॒न्नपा॑ वृधि ।
अ॒स्मभ्य॒मप्र॑तिष्कुतः ॥
saḥ naḥ vṛṣan amum carum satrā-dāvan apa vṛdhi
asmabhyam aprati-skutaḥ
Therefore do thou, O Supreme, remove this film from our being and be to us unconcealed.

तु॒ञ्जेतु॑ञ्जे॒ य उत्त॑रे॒ स्तोमा॒ इन्द्र॑स्य व॒ज्रिणः॑ ।
न वि॑न्धे अस्य सुष्टु॒तिम् ॥
tuñje-tuñje ye ut-tare stomāḥ indrasya vajriṇaḥ
na vindhe asya su-stutim
The praises of Indra the thunderer which rise from layer2 to higher layer,3 in all I find not his perfect praise.
1.7.8
वृषा॑ यू॒थेव॒ वंस॑गः कृ॒ष्टीरि॑य॒र्त्योज॑सा ।
ईशा॑नो॒ अप्र॑तिष्कुतः ॥
vṛṣā yūthā-iva vaṃsagaḥ kṛṣṭīḥ iyarti ojasā
īśānaḥ aprati-skutaḥ
As a yoked bull with its mate he in his might goeth to the power that work upon us and rules unconcealed.
1.7.9
य एक॑श्चर्षणी॒नां वसू॑नामिर॒ज्यति॑ ।
इन्द्र॒: पञ्च॑ क्षिती॒नाम् ॥
yaḥ ekaḥ carṣaṇīnām vasūnām irajyati
indraḥ pañca kṣitīnām
Indra who alone disposes all actions and possessions of the five planes.
1.7.10
इन्द्रं॑ वो वि॒श्वत॒स्परि॒ हवा॑महे॒ जने॑भ्यः ।
अ॒स्माक॑मस्तु॒ केव॑लः ॥
indram vaḥ viśvataḥ pari havāmahe janebhyaḥ
asmākam astu kevalaḥ
Indra for the people we call in everything that concerns you; may he be to us absolute and free.
