What I mean by the dirty water is of course the ordinary imperfect and impure human movements. These have to be got out and the nature or whatever part of it is being worked upon made empty and silent. This had happened before on your mind and vital and it was then you began to have psychic visions and feelings and experiences. It is now trying to happen in the physical consciousness also (physical outer mind, physical vital, body consciousness); but here it is more difficult and takes a longer time. It is true that the old things come back and try to fill the cup again; they are thrown out each time and the emptiness re-established. But however difficult, the persistence of the Divine working brings the difficulty to an end. What helps most is the understanding and assent of the sadhak, his quiet and steady cooperation with the Divine working.
