ulūkhala, mortar

A mortar is a figure for human mind whereas pestle (or churning-stick, or pressing stone) is a figure for direct vision (Drishti) and hearing (Shruti) oaf the Truth and both, mortar and pestle, are needed in their combined actionfor pressing out the soma, i.e. for creating hymn-offering.
