of Rig Veda

gabhīravepas, deeply penetrating

The exact meaning of the word is not known. It occurs once in Veda. Consists of gabhīra, deep, and derivatives profound, secret, mysterious, incomprehensible, inscrutable, etc., and from vepas from vip, moving, shaking, vibrating, etc. Because, on the one hand, the movement of the Sun can hardly be called secret or incomprehensible, and, on the other hand, the Sun here goes not within its own worlds of Heaven, but penetrates much lower, into the worlds of Overmand (the Airspace) and illuminates the worlds of the Earth, the main meaning of gabhīra, deep, deeply, seems to be the most relevant.

Other interpretations do not look convincing. Thus, Sayana, Wilson, Griffit, Dutt, Sarasvati: deep-quivering; Jamison, T. Elizarenkova: possesing profound inspiration; Kashyap: profound of sight; Ganguly: the profound light
