śambara, Shambara

One of the Dasyu. The word occurs in 20 riks. Indra defeats him with his lightning – often to help Atithigva. Agni also fights Shambara. Indra breaks numerous strongholds of Shambara and thows him out from the mountain (i.e. from mental consciousness). There are such characteristics: a maker of false maya; besplechiya; living in the mountains (i.e. acting in the mental consciousness of man).
