janāṣah, overpowering for men

Usually, janāṣah and nṛṣāh are translated as subduing the men. Such an interpretation seems dubious. Thus, -ṣah adds connitation of the effort, of the overpowering, for example, dhūrṣāh, bearing a yoke, nīṣāṭ, overcoming, pṛtanāṣāh, victorious in battle, etc. Indra’s aim is not to subdue or overcome people, but to raise them, to overpower and to defeat in them everything that resists divine destiny and the growth of the creature of the worlds of the Earth toward Heaven.
