vāyu, Vayu

Vayu, Vata, universal 1.142.12 god of air, mid-world, world of Overmind. His distinction from Vata is that Vata stands for the Force and Will of the consciousness of Overmind region whereas Vayu is associated rather with Knowledge and Truth of this consciousness: he as Indra is invited to Soma-offering and, as Indra, he brings high word of the Truth, 1.134.1, awakes abundant thought, make illumed both firmaments, make Dawns to shine out for hearing of the Truth, 1.134.3; his milch-cows (overmental perceptions of the Truth) yield mixture of clearness, 1.134.6, he gives radiant share in the Truth-Sun, 1.135.3, he is illuminator of nights, parent of Sun, 3.49.4. The air is a place of energetic action, so those souls, birds flying, which rise into Overmind air, perceive immense might of the Wind, 1.24.6; quick Vayu, 2.11.3, brings the true words, that give steeds of Power, 1.113.18, thousand steeds of speed, 1.135.2, well yoked quickly drawing horses of Wind, 1.121.12, he yokes into his chariot two speedy coursers; horses of Vata, yoked by mind, brings Indra for hearing of the Truth, 1.51.10; his mighty overmental energies, his bulls with strong breast move swiftly within river, bulls increasing in vastness, which even if being not quick in the desert (of Earth), nonetheless quick, having their home at Sun, like rays of the Sun difficult to be held, 1.135.9. Agni becomes released in flow of Wind-Life, 3.29.11; the Wind bears flame of Agni like an arrow of archer that is shot out day by day to its aim, 1.148.4. Wind not having enmity, 1.186.10, refreshing, 1.180.6, brings curing and bliss, 1.89.4.
