indra, Indra

The great god of Rigveda, together with Agni, indrāgnī, represent double aspect of inseparable Knowledge-Will. Indra is omniscient Consciousness with its almighty Will. Agni is almighty Will with its omniscience. Indra is having hundredfold Will, śatakratu, Agni, the universal divine Will in all worlds, is kavikratu, all-knowing Seer-Will. Movement of Indra is from above, from Heaven, his own home, dhāma-sācam, toward Earth. Movement Agni is upwards from Earth to his own home, sve dama, Heaven. Indra increasing in human consciousness to his Might and Greatness which exceed Earth, Heaven and mid-world, does here his divine deeds, he release still latent in Earth principles of four higher worlds and so open path for Earth and its evolution and for transformation of earthly existence to Life Divine: he win for man Overmind (mid-word), supramental world (Svar). He gives to man intuitive and supramental abilities of direct perception of the Truth through its hearing, śruti, and vision of the Truth, dṛṣṭi, two abilities that make man a seer. Often these abilities are imaged by figure of two bright horses of Indra, hari, right horse, Daksha, is discrimination, left one, Savya, is hearing. Another figure is left and right hands of Indra, and very often – his lightening (vidyut, vajra) in his both hands that illuminate our darkness by its heavenly flash, break asunder hard rocks of our mentality, and release from imprisonment Waters, cows of supramental perception(see. go), destroying an Enemy that hides them from us, he releases true Sun, that abode in the darkness; his shining is vast home of Truth.
