śutudrī, Shutudri

Sanskrit name of the river (now Satluj River), lit. “of hundreds flows”, most likely, it symbolises the direct hearing, śruti; it is a part of the Indian Panchanada (the Persian name of the territory is Penjab) and of the sapta sindhu, of Seven Rivers; it merges with the Vipash River, vipāś, “that freed the bound one”, that apparently symbolises the direct vision of the Truth, dṛṣṭi. Both of these rivers represent overmental perceptive abilities.
