paruṣa, Parushni

Sanskrit name of the river (now Ravi River), lit. “dapple”, perhaps, it symbolises the mental consciousness; it is a part of the Indian Panchanada (the Persian name of the territory is Penjab) and of the sapta sindhu, of Seven Rivers.
