Truly, the {both} yearning1 equally achieved that {Varuna’s mercy} of the not indifferent to the maintaining the law of the workings {and} to the giver ,
1 This Rik begins the answer (1.25.6–9) to the question of the previous rik (when the mercy of Varuna may be given to man): these “both” are the man maintaining the law of the workings and the man who gives to Varuna – both equally can reach Varuna. Sayana, Wilson, Griffit, Dutt, Peterson, Jamison, Kapali and Kashyap think that these “both” are Mitra and Varuna.
